Dr. Franz Huber

Surgeon,  adjunct medical director of the “Isar Medizin Zentrum”

 

Born 1955 in Munich. I grew up in a surgery dedicated environment. My father was chief of surgery and director of the “Klinikum Traunstein”.

 

Medical training

 

After finishing high school in Traunstein in 1976 I went to study medicine at the University of the Orange Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Here I received my degree (M.B.Ch.B.) in December 1982. I stayed on in Bloemfontein for my internship till December 1983 when I registered as a medical doctor in South Africa.

 

In January 1984 I was registered as a medical doctor in Germany (“Approbation”)

 

1984/85 I served with the German army in the “Gebirgsjäger Regiment” in Traunstein.

 

1985 I started my training in surgery with Prof. Dr. J.R. Siewert at the “Klinikum rechts der Isar” of the Technical University in Munich. In 1992 I received my specialist certificate as a surgeon.

 

Since 1994 consultant surgeon at the Technical University Munich in the field of visceral, thoracic and transplant surgery.

 

In 1997 I was appointed as chief of surgery and medical director of the “Chirurgische Privatklinik Bogenhausen” in cooperation and association with the Technical University. During this period I started my own private practice.

 

In 2002 I became head of visceral surgery of the “Klink Josephinum” in Munich.

 

In October 2008 I moved my practice and all my surgical activity to the newly opened “Isar Medizin Zentrum” to build up the department of visceral surgery. Here I was appointed adjunct medical director.

 

In 2010 I registered with the GMC (UK) as a specialist in the field of surgery (GMC  Reference number 7094651).

 

Activities For many years member of “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Chirurgie”, “Vereinigung der Bayerischen Chirurgen e.V.”, „Berufsverband der Deutschen Chirurgen“, „American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons“.

 

Visits and training at St. Marks Hospital in London, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Medical Center in Dayton Ohio, University of Maastricht, Sloan Kettering Medical Center in New York. Mostly I concentrated on colorectal surgery and proctology. During this period I wrote a number of publications in German and American journals and presented papers at numerous national and international meetings.
